The speeds between the AG’s ports and the ports it is connected to on the switch or hub should match with each other. This is extremely important for proper network performance. A port speed mismatch will degrade the network’s performance. The speed on an AG port can be set to one of the several fixed speeds (10half, 100half, 100full, 1000full) or to auto-detect. When setting the port speed to one of the fixed values it is very important to assure that the port that the AG is connected to is set to the same speed. In auto-detect mode the AG port will negotiate with the port on the other end to determine what is the best speed possible. By default, all AG port speeds are set to “auto”. This automatic setting allows the AG to audit the speed of other network devices and adopt the optimum speed setting to match the rest of the network. Administrators may set a specific port speed to match other network devices that have a fixed communication speed but caution is recommended. Administrators can set the network port speed by selecting System Configuration > Basic Networking > Interface > Port under the global scope. Please select the radio button of the target port speed, e.g. 100full, and click the Save Changes button on the upper right corner to save your configuration, as shown in Figure 2 5 Network Port Speed.
